Federated Farmers says the new Freshwater 2023 report doesn't reflect the improvements farmers are making to waterways.
The report paints a dire picture of the state of the country's freshwater and the consequent impact on wildlife.
But Federated Farmers' spokesperson on freshwater regulations Colin Hurst says key data is missing from the report, including a 12-percent drop in nitrogen fertiliser use over the past two years.
He spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
