Northland has borne the brunt of the severe weather, with Kaikohe recording 200 millimetres of rain in the past 24 hours. More than 200 households spent the night without power.
169 properties in Waipu should be reconnected this morning; 87 in Kaikohe are expected to have power back this afternoon.
