The central river in Christchurch is getting an 11km walkway which will run from the city to the sea.
New details have been released of the Ōtākaro Avon River revamp, which covers 602 hectares of red-zoned land once home to 5,500 properties.
The new pathway will be built alongside new stopbanks for sections of the river, and a wetland. Andrew Rutledge is Christchurch City Council's head of parks, and he spoke to Corin Dann.
