It's been a wet and wild weekend for the Central North Island as heavy rain led to burst river banks and evacuations around the region.
Slips and flooding closed sections of State Highways 3 and 4, and the Rangitikei District came close to declaring a state of emergency when the Tutaenui Stream overflowed.
Rangitikei mayor Andy Watson spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss this morning.
