Five police officers have been honoured for their actions when Cyclone Gabrielle struck the North Island and threatened lives earlier this year.
Constables Patrick Noiseux, Mark Bancroft and Kurtis Maney were acknowledged at a New Zealand Police Association ceremony in Wellington yesterday, for their response in getting people to safety as flood water raged in Hastings.
There were also bravery award citations for acts beyond the call of duty for Detective Sergeant Heath Jones and Detective Constable Jaime Stewart.
