An iwi leader is hoping the national hui summoned by Kiingi Tuheitia this weekend will give Maori a clear vision of the future.
In December, the Kiingitanga called a nationwide hui at Tuurangawaewae Marae in Ngaruawahia, over concerns about the coalition government's plans for Maori.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Maori Development Minister Tama Potaka met with Kiingi Tuheitia yesterday, ahead of this weekend's hui.
Neither Christopher Luxon or Tama Potaka responded to requests to be interviewed.
Bayden Barber is the chair of Ngati Kahungunu, which has been holding its own hui in preparation for Saturday. He spoke to Ben Strang.
