Dunedin swimmer Erika Fairweather has won her first ever World Championships gold medal.
The 20-year-old won the 400-metre freestyle final in Doha, finishing in just under four minutes.
Fairweather had a winning margin of 2.18 seconds over China's Li Bingjie.
World Record holder Ariarne Titmus and American sensation Katie Ledecky didn't compete, but she's still shaping up as a real medal hope for the Olympics later this year.
