A brand new four storey building the size of a provincial hospital is sitting empty on the grounds of North Shore hospital, with its opening date delayed and no new one set.
Construction of the 150-bed Tōtara Haumaru surgical facility is finished and the first stage was initially supposed to open last December, then this month.
But Te Whatu Ora/Health NZ doesn't yet have enough staff for it, and doesn't know how much money it will have to run it.
