Hamilton Mayor 'horrified' by councillor's rant

Hamilton mayor Paula Southgate says she is "horrified" by an expletive-laden rant from one of her city councillors to the neighbouring Waipa District council. Councillor Andrew Bydder's submission on a proposed location for a third bridge in Cambridge contained references to retardation and demanded that the council's chief executive "get on your knees and beg forgiveness" while the mayor get off her "fat arse... and sack the entire staff." Paula Southgate has laid a formal complaint to the council's independent lawyers. She spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
