Govt promises big health and safety reform

The Government is promising to come down hard on New Zealand's appalling workplace safety record, with a revamped health and safety law. Under legislation introduced to Parliament yesterday and expected to come into force in April next year, company directors and managers could face up to five years in prison and a three-million-dollar fine for recklessly endangering workers.
