On this episode of Postcards, Wellington expat Kava McIntyre reports back from the musical melting pot of Berlin.
"It often feels like living in a music festival," says Kava McIntyre, speaking to Music 101 about his home in Berlin. Based there with his family since 2011, he says he had an impression of "techno music in dark dungeons", but realised the city has "a lot of space, geographically, and also in the music".
Kava's Postcards picks:
-
Vernon Maytone - 'Old Pan Sound (Dub version)'
-
Stella - 'Detends Toi'
-
Gaoulé Mizkd - 'A Ka Titine (Kay Suzuki Gwoka Dub)'
-
Àbáse - 'Salasiano'
-
Alex Kassian - 'Strings Of Eden'
-
Hans Hass - 'Welche Farbe hat der Wind (Marian Tone Rework)'
This is the third in our new series Postcards on Music 101.
You can listen to the second episode, where New Zealand based Japanese American musician Rachel Andie sits down with Maggie Tweedie and takes a tour through the historic streets of Philadelphia.
