Hallelujah Picassos - Voices of Exuberant Hellhounds
The Hallelujah Picassos were a bunch of happy musical misfits, resident in the Auckland CBD from 1988 til 1996. The Picassos mixed up genres with unabashed glee, slamming them together, often within the same song. Fast forward to 2019 and the release of their new album Voices of Exuberant Hellhounds finds the band in excellent form despite coming to terms with the passing of their much loved drummer and vocalist Bobbylon who contributed so much to the Picasso's unique sound. For Music 101 Peter McLennan, Darren Harkness (who engineered the album) and vocalist and principal songwriter Roland Rorschach came into the RNZ studio to take us on a quick tiki tour of their new album Voices of Exuberant Hellhounds. Absent was long-time collaborator Johnny Pain who played keyboards, bv's and designing the mighty fine vinyl cover art.
