Tyler, The Creator returning to New Zealand to headline Bay Dreams festival

Rapper and producer Tyler, The Creator, who was banned from performing in New Zealand in 2014, is set to headline the Bay Dreams festival in Nelson and The Mount in 2020.

Tyler, The Creator was banned from performing at Eminem’s 2014 Auckland concert, because his group Odd Future was considered "a threat or risk to public order or the public interest" by New Zealand immigration officials.

Bay Dreams promoters have confirmed that the 28-year-old has been granted a visa to perform in New Zealand.

The rapper and producer has also confirmed shows in Australia.

Tyler, The Creator is set to perform alongside acts including American singer Halsey, British grime MC Skepta, American rapper and singer Yelawolf, and British singer songwriter Ella Mai.

The Bay Dreams festival takes place at the Mount on January 2, and in Nelson on January 4.

Other big names on the bill include Ocean Alley, Netsky, Mitch James, Gunna and Sub Focus.

Shapeshifter will be headlining the Nelson festival’s pre-party, which takes place on January 3rd.

Both Bay Dreams’ 2019 events sold out, and tickets to next year’s events are expected to sell fast.

Tickets are on sale from Wednesday, August 14.
