VIDEO PREMIERE: Dirty Pixels ‘Julipa’

From RNZ Music, 10:00 am on 12 March 2020

RNZ Music is proud to present the new video from Tāmaki Makaurau indie-pop four-piece Dirty Pixels. ‘Julipa: How to Lose a Guy in Ten Bites’ is inspired by The Creature from the Black Lagoon and “cheesy '90s rom-coms”.

Dirty Pixels are an Auckland four-piece that includes frontman Ethan Moore, bass player Dillon Feeney keyboard player Jeremy MacDonnell, and drummer Toby Arrow.

They released their first EP Spacesuit in 2017. ‘Julipa’ is their latest single.

The song’s video is a short film-style creation inspired by The Creature from the Black Lagoon and “cheesy '90s rom-coms”.

A monster, played by actor Alice May Connolly (This Town, Daffodils) seduces her love interest (Dirty pixels frontman Ethan Moore) in the some comically frightening ways. Her horrifying presence eventually turns playful and flirty, leading to bubbles on the beach and “heart-eating heartbreaking betrayal”.

The vid was directed, shot and edited by Callum Devlin, creator of several videos for Hans Pucket and The Beths.
