RNZ Music is thrilled to present this powerful live performance from Dunedin artist Abby Wolfe. Abby recorded the song, her latest single ‘Held By You’, at Dunedin’s stunning St Paul's Cathedral.
Abby Wolfe, a budding pop musician who’s been making music since her early teens, has been making a name for herself over the last couple of years. Her collection of six singles showcases her fantastic vocal talent, and ability to pen catchy tunes.
An accomplished songwriter, Abby’s worked with leading writers and producers from around the world, including Josh Fountain (Leisure, Maala, Thompson), Djeisan Suskov (Sachi, Chores, Openside), Justin Gray (Avril Lavigne, John Legend, Amy Winehouse,) and more.
This stunning live session features a string quintet, a 20 piece choir, and was captured at Dunedin’s St Paul’s Cathedral, which sits in the heart of the Octagon.
The original version of ‘Held by You’ (listen here) was recorded and mixed by legendary NZ producer and engineer Simon Gooding (Pink, TEEKS) and mastered by the Grammy Award-winning Brian Lucey in LA.
It’s the first song from Abby’s upcoming EP, which she describes as a new chapter.
“The raw emotion, heartbreak, and honesty that ballads bring is where I feel most at home and ‘Held by You’ is probably the rawest version of me that I've put out into the world yet,” Abby says.
