Dave Rawlings

David Rawlings has been Gillian Welch's musical foil for over a decade, supplying his harmony singing, guitar playing and songwriting talents to her albums and live shows. Now Rawlings has stepped out on his own. Recording as the Dave Rawlings Machine, his debut album 'Friend Of A Friend' contains songs he has written over the years with Ryan Adams and Gillian Welch, along with a few new tunes. Gillian can be heard adding her harmonies to Dave's songs along with members of the Old Crow Medicine Show. Marty Duda spoke to Rawlings and asked him why he decided to finally make a record under his own name.
