Cliff’s Last Mission is the first play in our spring release of New Zealand drama and is about a family torn apart by the fallout from a long forgotten war.
Cliff Malvern served in the New Zealand Army during the Vietnam War. While the memory of that conflict is fading into the past, the war has left a very real mark on Cliff and his family.
When his platoon gathers to march in Parade 98* it brings Cliff face to face with the demons he has been trying to drown with alcohol. His wife has abandoned him, his old platoon has mostly lost touch, only his daughter Richelle still believes in him.
*Parade 98 was organized to remember and honour the men and women who served for New Zealand during the Vietnam conflict.
