8:30 Window on The World: Insects Fixing The World

From an industrial-scale fly factory in London to farming bugs in the Madagascan rainforest, insects are being put to work all around the world. These biological wonders are turning stuff we don't want - like food waste and even faeces - into useful protein. This is creating a greener alternative to animal feed and creating food products for humans too.

9:07 Our Changing World

This week on Our Changing World, we celebrate New Zealand sea week by telling the story of a globally important ocean chemistry study. Running since 1998, the Munida time-series, led by Dr. Kim Currie of NIWA, has been collecting ocean chemistry measurements along a 65km line off the Dunedin coast every two months.

This consistent collection of information makes it a powerful and important data set. One that tells us how the chemistry of our oceans are changing in response to greater levels of atmospheric carbon. Claire climbs on board the University of Otago's research vessel the Polaris two to learn more about this time-series, and to find out about the other science happening along the way.
