Tahutahi pounamu is extremely rare and only found in the Cascade Plateau, South of Haast, on the West Coast of Te Wai Pounamu.
For the first time it will be sold to the public legally.
It is known for its vibrant green colour with white flecks, but its recent history has been marred by large scale thefts and the black-market trading.
