Du Val contractor ‘hurt’ and ‘scarred’

From Nine To Noon, 9:05 am today

A contractor owed money from the Du Val property group says the unfolding ordeal has scarred and hurt many who are in the same boat.

The first receivers' report for the company has been released by order of the High Court.

It highlights irregular accounting and questions the valuations of the group's assets and related party transactions, which led to the group being placed into statutory management last month.

It says further investigations are needed into various aspects of the Du Val group's property and investment businesses.

Dave Burt, the director of Team Cabling, speaks to Kathryn about contractors' fears.

RNZ business editor Gyles Beckford talks Kathryn through what the receivers’ interim report says about Du Val and where to next for creditors.

The Seascape apartment project, developed by Shundi Customs and constructed by China Construction NZ, has come to a standstill. The project was once planned to be the tallest residential apartment building in New Zealand.
