Over the past 20 years, the Storytime Foundation has donated more than 320,000 books to 81,000 families around the motu.

It's the only charity that delivers books and resources to vulnerable families with the aim of encouraging reading in the home, and strengthening the bond between parents and child in those crucial first one thousand days.

Like many in the social sector, it's facing the funding squeeze and has launched a new Pepeha Cloth Book for babies that'll be available to the public to buy.

Each one bought will be matched by the foundation for donation to a family.

Tony Culliney is chief executive of the Storytime Foundation and joins Susie to talk about the 30 million word gap between children from high and low income families and how this initiative is hoping to make a difference. If you'd like to buy a book, click here.
