As a young boy Sean Boyd was the kid that took apart household items and toys, trying to transform them into different items.
The foundations for what he does now as a junk artist were laid early on.
Throughout his life he's had a range of occupations, including oyster farming, working as tropical gardener and 10 years as a police officer. But nothing ever stuck, or felt quite right.
Now he's in his element creating art work from scrap metal - after being offered an open-ended art residency at the Tamaki Zero Waste Hub in Auckland.
