9:10 Myopia on the rise in Kiwi children

According to a survey by Specsavers, more than half of Kiwi parents aren't aware of the risk of myopia, or short-sightedness, in their children.

Optometrist Arshad Hoosen joins Anna Thomas to explain.

9:20 Tiny paintings make big difference

Gill McFarlane spent 17 years with the Royal Air Force and Royal New Zealand Airforce as an aircraft technician.

She spent time in Iraq and Afghanistan, and lives with PTSD from that period.

But an art therapy programme run by the Defence Force sparked a passion and as her painting ability has progressed, so has her recovery.

She joins Anna Thomas from her home in Blenheim..

9:30 Aotearoa's best summer biking

Aotearoa has some of the best biking in the world - including the 23 Great Rides which form the Ngā Haerenga cycle trail network - but there are plenty of other interesting cycle spots

And with e-bikes now so popular, what rides are best suited to them, and what should we be thinking about before we put our helmets on and pedal out the door?

Lynley Twyman, the coordinator of Central North Island Great Rides, joins Anna to give some lycra-clad advice.

9:45 Museum Stop: National Transport and Toy Museum Wanaka

Our museum stop today is one for young and old and a real trip down memory lane.

The National Transport and Toy Museum Wanaka features 600 old vehicles and 23 aircraft, along with 100,000 toys and a myriad of other items - making it one of the largest private collections of its kind in the world.

It's the result of a lifetime of collecting by the late Gerald Rhodes.

His son Jason speaks with Anna.

10:08 Road Trip: Nigel Latta

Today, our Summer Times road trip is with a man who's used to helping others but has recently found the tables turned.

Known for his deep dives into the psyches of criminals, troubled teens and parents, and for tackling gnarly social issues like obesity, poverty, and child abuse - renowned psychologist, TV presenter, author and documentary producer Nigel Latta is facing his own battle after a shock cancer diagnosis last year.

He joins Anna to chart a course for the West Coast, pick the tunes, and share his best road trip memories.

11:08 Australian correspondent Peter Ryan

Peter Ryan joins Anna Thomas with stories from across the ditch, including 'cabana rage' striking beachgoers, the legalisation of pet crocodiles, and the death of an Aussie legend, Alan Adler, who ran the photo booth at Flinders Street Station in Melbourne.

This handout photo taken on on September 14, 2011 and received on February 12, 2013 shows Toody Scott feeding Cassius - who has reclaimed his crown as the world's biggest crocodile in captivity, with his Australian handler saying it will boost business, on Green Island, Queensland. The 5.48-metre (17 ft 11ins) crocodile, kept in a park on an island off Australia's Queensland, held the record until "Lolong", a 6.17-metre suspected man-eater, was caught in the Philippines 17 months ago. But with Lolong's death from a mystery illness on Sunday, Cassius is once again on top. "The Guinness Book of World Records contacted us as soon as Lolong died," Billy Craig, a croc wrangler at Marineland Melanesia where Cassius lives, told AFP. AFP PHOTO / MARINELAND MELANESIA

11:25 Icehouse frontman Iva Davies on his coming tour of NZ

'Great Southern Land' is a tune that's become an unofficial Aussie anthem.

The band that created it, Icehouse, is coming across the ditch, joining the other great Aussie rockers Cold Chisel, on the Summer Concert tour, hitting the summer hotspots of Queenstown, Whitianga and Taupo.

Anna catches up with frontman Iva Davies ahead of the tour.

11:40 Coterie join forces with Fat Freddy's Drop

Coterie is made up of four brothers who were born in Aotearoa but grew up in Perth.

They manage to capture the sound of summer pretty well, which is why they're in the middle of a busy few months of festivals.

They'll be touring around New Zealand with Fat Freddy's Drop in a couple of weeks, and Brandford and Conrad have got up early in Perth to chat with Anna Thomas.
