Aucklanders hanging out for a cold drink have struggled to keep them cool with broken machinery at one of the cities largest ice factories causing a shortage during peak demand.
The shortage was most evident over the Christmas and New Year period, when RNZ fielded calls about the lack of ice available.
RNZ surveyed 17 petrol and service stations in central Auckland yesterday, and found that 15 ran out of ice due to supply issues.
Reporter Anan Zaki spoke to Tai Williams - the man trying to keep the ice machines working.
