Work to do on gender equality in Fiji - Minister for Women

From the collecton The House On Demand

Fiji's Minister for Women says she's encouraged by the work New Zealand has done on gender equality but both countries have work to do.

Mereseini Vuniwaqa is the Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation in Fiji and met with the Speaker-led delegation of five New Zealand MPs earlier this month to talk about improving outcomes for women.

New Zealand is funding Fiji's national gender assessment which will collate data relevant to critical areas of gender equality in Fiji.

She told Daniela Maoate-Cox that New Zealand is a model for improving gender equality but both countries still have a way to go.

This interview is part of a series on the Speaker-led delegation to Tonga and Fiji. The full coverage can be found here.
