It's a cold night and you've got a hearty stew on the stove, what could be better? Why do we turn to comforting, heavy dishes during the colder months - is it purely for warmth? Well research in The Conversation has found there's a bit more to it. The panellists discuss whether they turn to carbs and sugar when they're cold, and why they do it. A new report from AUT University and the MOH has found that more than 1 in 3 Pacifica Youth reported gambling daily, making gambling as common as tobacco among some. She says the situation has been dealt with now but the panellist weigh in on whether it could have been handled better. Some of America's richest people are urging US presidential candidates to back a wealth tax on the super-rich to improve inequality and climate change. They say its bipartisan call but are backing a plan by Elizabeth Warren to raise taxes on the mega wealthy. The open letter says that a wealth tax could help address climate change, improve health outcomes, and strengthen democratic freedoms.
