A train travelling from Waikanae to Wellington has been hit by a rockfall as heavy rain pelts the region.
There were reports of flooding across Hutt City, Featherston, Silverstream, Trentham, Porirua, Waiwhetu, Whitby, Stokes Valley and Naenae on Monday morning.
SH58 was closed at Whitby westbound between Joseph Banks and James Cook Roads, while a lane on SH2 going through Lower Hutt was ealier closed.
Heavy rain warnings were in force Monday morning for the lower North Island.
