A man accused of the murder of three people in September has been named after appearing at the High Court in Rotorua.

Justin Matthew Jeffries is accused of killing Glendon and Jessie Currin, who were assaulted at their home in Western Heights on 23 September and later died in hospital.

He had earlier been charged with the murder of Michelle Schiller, who was found dead in her Utuhina home on the same day.

Jeffries was also facing a number of other charges, including wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, burglary and fraud.

He was remanded in custody and would reappear on 15 November.

Detective Inspector Lindsay Pilbrow said police were continuing to support the families of the three victims.

"This has been an incredibly distressing time for them and they have asked for privacy as they continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones."

Police wanted to hear from anyone who had been in contact with Jeffries since the beginning of September, she said.

They were asked to contact police by calling 105 or making a report on its website, quoting reference number 240923/0552.
