The Hamilton City Council is to engage independent investigators to look at how Hamilton Zoo is run.
A senior keeper, Samantha Kudeweh, died after being attacked by a tiger at the zoo last month.
At the time, the council said it was unclear why she was in the tiger enclosure.
It now says external auditors will be called in to review procedures at the zoo, which it owns.
