The number of people applying for jobs is rising faster than the number of jobs being advertised.
The March Employment Dashboard from online job portal Seek showed the number of job ads rose 1 percent in March over the month before, while the number of applications per job rose 4 percent.
"Job ads have risen every month this quarter, so while we may not be in the boom period of 2022, there is still some heat left in the market," Seek country manager Rob Clark said.

The number of ads rose 23 percent in Hawke's Bay, reflecting the demand for help following Cyclone Gabrielle.
Job ads in sales, retail & consumer products and education and training led the rise in March, while job ads in trades and services, information & communications technology, and hospitality and tourism fell marginally.
