A national business survey has found Christchurch firms are the most optimistic about sales in the final quarter of the year.
The positive outlook is held despite 40% of the region's businesses reporting a decline in revenue in the last year.
Accounting software company MYOB says its survey of 1000 firms shows Canterbury businesses have bounced back well after the February earthquake.
MYOB general manager Julian Smith says 35% of Canterbury businesses expect sales will be better than normal for this time of year, which is more optimistic than figures nationally.
He says businesses with five or fewer employees have been the most adaptable to the post quake conditions.
Mr Smith says Canterbury has the highest number of businesses with an online presence which has enabled them to continue trading despite quake damage.
