Work is underway to help relocate forestry contractors who were left with no work following Cyclone Gabrielle.
Forestry estates in Tai Rāwhiti and Hawke's Bay have suffered significant damage, and while some have reopened, many remain closed while damage assessments can be done.
Forest Industry Contractors Association (FICA) chief executive Prue Younger said about 50 contractors were left without work.
"There's probably just a handful that have started back up again. I know some companies are trying to find alternative work for their staff because there's a bit of work over Taupō way.
"FICA has opened up the channels to get information from contractors as to whether they have got the capacity to be relocated. We've got a system and an online process called moving our people.
"We have had some successes where people have registered their interest and also we've got some jobs being listed. So we're trying to marry that up - a bit of a dating game."
"We know relocating is not easy and isn't an option for everyone but we've had a bit of interest because people know it could be months before their sites open up again."
