The Matamata-Piako District new mayor is Jan Barnes. She was deputy mayor and has replaced Hugh Vercoe who didn't stand for re election.
She took the job from four other candidates and ended up with a majority of just over 2,600.
Otorohanga
Max Baxter is the new Mayor of Otorohanga District. He beat off two other candidates to win with a majority of 500 votes, incumbent, Dale Williams didn't seek re election.
Waipa
A former chief executive of the Waipa District Council has now become its mayor.
Jim Mylchreest replaces Alan Livingston who retired after many years at the helm.
Mr Mylchreest beat of three other candidates to win with a majority just over 600.
Waitomo
Brian Hanna is back as mayor of Waitomo District Council, he beat his only rival by just over 13,00 votes.
Hauraki
Mayor of Hauraki District John Tregidga has been returned for a fourth term. He beat his only rival by a majority of nearly 12,00 votes.
