Singer-songwriter Lorde and soul and R&B artist Aaradhna were the big winners at the 48th annual Music Awards in Auckland.
Lorde, whose name is Ella Yelich O'Connor, won breakthrough artist of the year, the international achievement award, the people's choice award and single of the year for Royals on Thursday night.
Earlier in November, the 17-year-old was named as one of the most influential teenagers in the world by Time magazine and has topped the charts with Royals. In October, she won the top prize the Silver Scroll awards, which celebrate New Zealand's best songwriting.
Samoan-Indian artist Aaradhna was named best female solo artist and won album of the year for Treble & Reverb - also judged best urban/hip hop album aand best Pacific music album.
Lawrence Arabia has won best male solo artist and Shapeshifter won best group on Thursday.
Shona Laing took home the legacy award.
