West Coast MP Damien O'Connor says he's has been flooded with calls from constituents over a blogger's headline about the death of a Greymouth man.
Cameron Slater's Whale Oil site published an article about Judd Hall, who was killed in a car crash last week, under the heading, "Feral dies in Greymouth, did the world a favour".
Mr Slater says he has received death threats and has laid a complaint with the police.
Mr O'Connor says he does not condone death threats, but Mr Slater has brought this upon himself, referring to him as a schoolyard bully.
Canterbury University media law lecturer Ursula Cheer said bloggers need to be regulated the same as news media, as recommended by a Law Commission New Media report in 2012.
