Paul Norris, the former head of the New Zealand Broadcasting School, died on Friday morning in hospital in Christchurch. He was 72.
Mr Norris had a major role in changing the landscape of television news and current affairs in New Zealand.
He grew up in Timaru, then moved to Britain where he worked for the BBC for almost 20 years.
He returned to New Zealand in 1987 to take over as director of news and current affairs at Television New Zealand.
