An appeal against a Board of Inquiry decision stymying the Transport Agency's plan to build a flyover next to Wellington's Basin Reserve is unlikely to be heard until late next year.
The $90 million project was promoted by the agency as a way of speeding up traffic to and from Wellington Airport and to help resolve congestion in the area.
The flyover was opposed by several lobby groups representing residents and those concerned about the loss of heritage features in the capital.
Lawyers for the Transport Agency and other interested parties attended a hearing at the High Court in Wellington today to set a timeframe leading up to the appeal.
Submissions would need to be filed by May, but Justice Mackenzie indicated that the case was unlikely to be heard before September.
