Queenstown airport has been given the all-clear after around 500 people were evacuated from the terminal because of a bomb scare.
Police said a cleaner found a note mentioning a bomb on a plane that had arrived from Australia at about 3pm today.
Aviation security and police officers searched the plane and found no evidence of any explosives.
A further search of the terminal and baggage turned up nothing of interest and the airport has been re-opened.
Wellington passenger Katie Armstrong said the hundreds of people had just been told they can go back inside the terminal.
Her flight to Wellington was cancelled because of the bomb scare.
Ms Armstrong said people in the airport terminal responded well to the evacuation alert.
