A magnitude-5.0 shake has been felt by hundreds of people in the Bay of Plenty area this morning.
The quake struck at 10am today, and was located 15km west of Te Kaha, according to GeoNet.
It hit at a depth of 40km and GeoNet has rated it as a 'moderate' shake.
Ten minutes after it struck, more than 800 people had reported feeling the quake on the GeoNet website.
