Name suppression has lapsed for a man accused of deceiving friends and family in a $6 million ponzi scheme.
Shane Richard Scott, 60, has pleaded not guilty to charges filed by the Serious Fraud Office at the Auckland District Court. He faces a total of 30 charges.
The Serious Fraud Office alleges Mr Scott received payments from investors on the understanding their money was being invested in the diamond trade, as well as deals brokered in Thailand, South African trade deals and a New Caledonia chicken farm.
The office said there was no evidence of any legitimate investment.
Name suppression lapsed today. A trial date is yet to be set.
