A review by the Waikato District Health Board (DHB) into its care of a man who killed three people, including his mother, in October has been completed but won't be released until it's discussed with family of the victims.

Ross Bremner killed his mother at the family home in Otorohanga and critically injured his father before killing an elderly couple, Maurice O'Donnell and Mona Tuwhangai, near Kawhia.

It was believed Ross Bremner then took his own life.

The DHB said it had carried out a serious event review into its care of Mr Bremner.

Mental Health and Addictions Service executive director Derek Wright said until he had met with all the families, the report would not be made public.

He said the report had been passed to the Coroner and police.
