A light earthquake rattled the Wellington region early this morning.

The 3.8 magnitude tremor, about 20km west of Wellington, hit at 3.46am.
Geonet recorded it as 45km deep.
About 600 people from Wellington to central Hawke's Bay reported feeling the tremor.
