A body was found on a Napier beach last night, more than a week after a French tourist went missing in the area.

A police spokesperson said a member of the public contacted them at about 8.30pm saying they had found a body at Awatoto, just south of Napier.
The spokesperson said the body is yet to be formally identified and a post mortem is to be carried out.
Police, search and rescue personnel and surf life saving teams have searching for Pierre Paludet, 32, whose car was found parked at the Haumoana Beach car park, about 10km from Awatoto.
Mr Paladet was last seen in the Haumoana car park on 12 January.
