A woman has died after she became trapped under a pile of timber at a Bay of Plenty sawmill this morning.

Emergency services were called to a timber yard on Manukorihi Drive in Kawerau just after 11am.
Northern fire communications shift manager Craig Dally said the woman died after becoming trapped under a pile of timber pallets.
Police said WorkSafe has been notified and the death will be referred to the Coroner.
