Four men have been stabbed in what's believed to have been a gang fight in Timaru early this morning.

Police said they were called to Dunkirk Street about 3.20am with reports of gang members fighting.
Four men were taken to hospital. One needed surgery and another was in a serious condition, they said, while the two others were moderately injured.
Two men were later discharged from hospital.
They said they believed those fighting were known to each other and officers were examining the scene.
They said they wanted to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything in the early hours this morning who had not yet spoken to police.
