A person has died after a serious crash on State Highway 29, near Hinuera, Matamata.
Police were called to a crash between a truck and a ute about 5.15am.
The road is closed with diversions in place and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
The Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene.
One other person was taken to Waikato Hospital with moderate injuries.
