A man has been charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a woman who fell from a car in Northland last night.

The woman died at the scene, at the intersection of State Highways 1 and 12 at Ohaeawai, northeast of Kaikohe.
The 41-year-old man, who has also been charged with driving while disqualified and failing to stop to ascertain injury, is expected to appear in the Kaikohe District Court this afternoon.
Police want to hear from any witnesses to the incident, which happened about 9.30pm and involved a white Nissan Fuga.
The woman's next of kin are being notified.
