All four city-bound lanes on Auckland's Southern Motorway have been reopened following an earlier crash in Ōtara.
Emergency services were called to the scene between Te Irirangi Dr and East Tamaki Rd just after 1pm.
Earlier this afternoon all lanes northbound between SH20 and East Tamaki Dr were closed and the right lane southbound under the Reagan Road overbridge was also blocked.
Two people have been taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Police said the scene had been cleared but the area was expected to be congested for some time.
They are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are especially interested in speaking to anyone who may have assisted the occupants of the vehicle before emergency services arrived.
Motorists who can supply dash camera footage of the incident are urged to contact police.
