Police are investigating after a man was shot in South Auckland last night.

In a statement this morning, police said they found a man with a gunshot wound when they arrived at a house on Calthorp Close in Favona about 9.30pm.
Counties Manukau acting detective inspector Shaun Vickers said the man was taken to hospital in a critical condition, but he had since stabilised to a serious condition.
Police will remain at the scene today.
