A man has been charged with murdering Northland woman Bridget Simmonds.

The 43-year-old mother of two was last seen in Whangārei in February last year when her mother dropped her off at a supermarket.
Her body was found on a rural property in Parakao two weeks ago.
Police investigating her death have charged a 57-year-old man with murder.
The man is due to appear in the Whangārei District Court via audio visual link this afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Clayton said the lengthy investigation involved hundreds of hours of police work.
He said he hoped it would bring Bridget's family some degree of closure after what had been an incredibly difficult past year for them.
